Extra Ordinary Objects are the small tools that play a significant role in our day-to-day lives at work, at home, or in the kitchen. We asked Zsuzsanna Toth to share stories about the objects she likes to have around at her home in Berlin.
Etageres
»I do believe that the way you plate influences the entire way you eat and observe your meals. Etageres, wooden or ceramic, elevate even the simplest of things. I love to eat my croissant from the ceramic etageres, or serve fruit and snacks for the people, or whatever needs a special place and space.«
Serviette Holder Vase
»As a result of a quite frequent rabbit hole tour on eBay I found this 1 Euro piece that keeps (barely used) serviette rings neatly together while nurturing whatever is around. In this case: wild fennel and coriander from the garden.«
Salad server hands
»To be honest I prefer mixing dressings into salads with my bare hands, making sure everything is equally covered just enough to complement and compliment the green crunch. These hand-y wooden salad tossers seem like a good compromise.«
Elizabeth David cookbooks
»I own quite a lot of cookbooks, but none of them I take out of the shelves as much as these two from Elizabeth David. The recipes are approachable, the techniques simple and her little introductions written almost like little short stories.«
